They have completed the greatest turnaround in Major League Baseball history by being the first team ever to lose 100 games over three straight seasons and then make the playoffs.

Well, Texas did lose, but the White Sox couldn't get it done against the Royals in a 5-4 Royals victory.

The White Sox missed their opening to clinch a playoff berth and take back the top spot in the division, and it was because of using an opener.

Well, also some old problems also played a role in Chicago not celebrating clinching a playoff berth tonight.

Let's go to, uh, Kansas City.

The White Sox were all over the Royals early, but it ended up being a 14 to 11 victory in favor of Chicago, and let's hear from Todd Welter of Locked On White Sox about this win.

The White Sox got closer to clinching a playoff spot as the offense went absolutely nuts at the plate, and hopefully Chicago's lineup can keep producing runs during the rest of the week like it did tonight, as that is gonna be the team's most effective way toward punching a ticket to the postseason, especially since the bullpen nearly gave away a massive lead tonight.

But don't worry, the Royals rallied back against Trevor Richards and Luis Castillo, and it's unlikely Castillo's gonna be on the playoff roster, while you could make a case to exclude Richards, too.
