Well yes, in, in training camp though is when you first realize it, that there's these two new kids, and they were, they were gonna, they were gonna make a name for themselves, and they would chase Todd Ewen around, Twister and Chaser.

And, and they'd, w- he'd fight one, then he'd have to fight the other, and then the other guy would, would, would step in and try and fight him again.

It's c- eh, that y- the idea that, like, we're scaring people into suicide because of concerns about CTE.

I mean, Gary Bettman put it in a letter to Congress about a guy named Todd Ewen who died, and [laughs] somebody said they'd, he didn't have CTE.

Then we studied the brain, and it turned out he did, but th- the point was it was irrelevant.

He was going through major life struggles due to his brain disease.

Gary Bettman is the commissioner of the National Hockey League.

In 2016, he sent a letter to a senator rebuking the claims that repeat concussions lead to CTE.

In it, he claimed that Todd Ewen, a professional hockey player who had died by suicide a year prior at the age of 49, did not have CTE, and that his death was the result of his belief that his depression was caused by CTE.

A reanalysis of Ewen's brain tissue found that he did in fact have CTE, and the doctor who originally did the autopsy that claimed no CTE was found was actually an expert witness for the NHL when it came to CTE-related litigation.
