Tioga County

That's brewed in Pennsylvania.

is the oldest brewery in the united states he established the eagle brewery in 1829 amazing the brewery still remains in the family to this day and they they have some great brews that's a good good american beer and like i said we have a lot of um Just within a 10-mile radius, there's at least, I think, two that I know of offhand here in Tioga County.

And up in Broome County, the next county over, there's one place up that we used to, well, we haven't been there of late, but we used to go up there at least once a month to the Oakdale Commons, and there's a restaurant there, the Beer Tree.

It's on the Sears.

I always go home with a bag of kettle corn purchased here at the Wego Strawberry Festival.

So there we go.

Okay, next is we're going to go ahead and go back 100 years ago with Roger Luter over there on Fox 40, out there in Vestal, New York, in Broome County next door to Tioga County, the local Fox affiliate, 100 years ago.

And I have no affiliation with Fox 40, and I just present it here on the audio podcast as well as over there on the live stream for... information purposes to give you an idea what it was like here a hundred years ago in the southern tier of upstate New York.

What do we have? Oh, the, the Waverly/Owego school communities are taking part in a, a friendly Toys for Tots competition aimed at helping children in the area of Tioga County during the holiday season.

The countywide challenge begins October 19th, which it's already started, and continues to November 23rd.

Students, families, and community members will donate, uh, new, unwrapped toys for childrens from birth through age 13.

I, I imagine...

I, I think they have a library in Kirkwood, but, um, this is not a new idea.

There, there's several communities here in Tioga County that have the same concept, and it is a great concept as far as, um, a place to put the books that you're done reading to, for other people to, to u- to read and share and stuff like that.

And, uh, so it's a good idea.

One of the great organizations that we have locally here, um, that they do, and I know firsthand, um, they do great work is, uh, Catholic Charities.

Catholic Charities in Tioga County does a great job.

They have a mobile, um...

They used to have a, a kitchen, and, um, they would feed people that couldn't have meals and stuff.

I'm in New York State, Bill- Willie Billy Silly.

I'm in between Binghamton and Elmira on the southern tier border be- with Pennsylvania, uh, in Tioga County.

So that's where I'm at.

Yeah, we're three hours ahead as far as that goes.

And Waverly, uh, High School, they've got a good football team.

They, they got a hard-nosed football team for the county here.

And Waverly is in Tioga County, folks, just so you know.

Uh, let's see.

Just got done posting my good morning to Tioga County in the southern tier of upstate New York.

I like this one because, uh, we have a lot of these individuals in this county, Tioga County, and I, I, I, I do really, uh...

It's one of the aspects or, um, uh, things that are here in New York State that I really love about the state, and that's, um...

And, um, you know, because everybody, you know, you say n- you're from New York, they automatic...

And, um, um, I met one of the two boys, uh, that are, that, that bought the farm, and, um, they're, they're doing some good work over there.

They're...

And, uh, there's a lot of fields here in Tioga County, a lot of good farms, and so I have high regards for the farmers, um, not just here but across this country and ar- around the world as far as that goes.

They don't get their due, uh, due, uh, respect, I guess, and it's...

So he's the Broome County historian.

Broome County's right next to Tioga County.

And I have no affiliation with, uh, with Fox 40 or any news agency that I may mention on this broadcast.

Let me bring this up here.

There's our c- current Doppler coming out of Binghamton Airport as far as that goes.

And, um, Tioga County right there, you can see there's just a lot of haze, but these clouds are looking like, uh, like, like rain clouds.

So that's going out 100 miles, um, as far as that goes.

Waking up on a cold morning, you're cranking the front of your car to get it started and all of a sudden it slips and that handle hits you in the face and breaking three teeth.

And Appalachian, New York, that's where I grew up here in Tioga County and I can see that happening here.

on a cold morning so uh and then um was it of course you only want responsible families to adopt the boys you don't want dirt bags so but that was um the um the um outlook of people back then to take care of the people that needed to take care of, in this case, three orphan boys.

And then, of course, we had some good people there.
