Basically something fizzy and colorless and refreshing.

I do know in some kind of more upmarket places, they do like a higher-end version of Tinto de Verano.

I've had nice, nice Tinto de Verano, like at a nice restaurant where they put like an orange peel.

fancy, fancy.

Something very simple inspired by, by, uh, the, the s- uh, Spain, where they have over there what they call a tinto de verano, which is two ingredients, uh, this type of fruity, uh, uh, wine and, uh, kind of lemonade type of thing, tonic.

Mm.

Uh, uh, it's 50/50, ice, a- a- and, and that's it.

A Tinto de Verano sounds disgusting.

It's red wine with lemonade.

Well, I can understand that because otherwise you'd go on fire.

Tinto Verano, I think.

You can have a nice clatter when you get away with that, yeah? But, yeah, so what are we dealing with then? I mean, basically we have the wildfire seasons.

We've got Portugal, Italy, parts of Western Balkans and Turkey experiencing danger.

And when I was in Spain, I drank a lot of the Verano.

Yeah, that sort of summer wine stuff.

Do you know about the Cali Mocho's decaffeinated friend, Tinto De Verano? It's red wine over ice with lemon Fanta.

I can't wait.

When did this begin? This red wine mixed with American sodas? What is happening?

And no, I remember I had told my mom, like, yeah, this is the culture, the tapas culture.

And she had ordered, I got her hooked on Tinto de Verano, which is a very beloved local drink.

A lot of people outside of Spain know Sangria, but locals drink more Tinto de Verano, which is red wine with either lemonade or... casera.

I'm not sure how to explain casera, but it's like gas water, like sparkling water with some kind of more bitter flavor.

And so she just kept ordering these tinto de veranos and they just kept bringing her dishes and she would be like, why? Why am I getting more dishes? So it's one of those things where like you really need to remember like every drink, it's a dish, which is a good thing, but be ready to eat.
