Timothy West

I noted that, uh, you were at school with, uh, very good contemporaries.

Did you act with people like Tim West back then?

Well, funnily enough, yes.

Well, that was a very long time ago when we were, we were little boys.

And he was playing sort of the lead in it.

Timothy West playing Bolingbroke.

We did Richard II and Edward II.

And I suddenly, I was carrying a spear.

You gotta get in the small theaters first." I wrote to the provinces.

One of the provinces came back and said, "Well, we don't have any room for you as an actor, but you can push scenery here." I thought, "Get out there, get a full-time job in it, something will happen." As it did, Timothy West, one of the great actors, came up there doing a series of plays.

I got to know him, and I said, "I wanna be an actor." They were doing the Oz Obscenity Trial reading, and I said, and, and he said, "You can play one of the parts." I did that, and the next minute I did an, a, I played a coughing orderly in the next play that he was doing up there.

A coughing orderly?

You know, would he, uh, contradict himself? Um, or was he being para- parables, you know, doing parables there, allegorical? Jesus said we're in the little season, so believe him.

Tim West is one of my most staunch little season listeners, you know, and I love it.

And he's got a lot on it.

What do you-- Give me a couple details so we can make sure to go over those with Bennison as well.

[chuckles] Absolutely.

Because while I was getting attacked, and I don't want to get into it too much, because I don't want to perpetuate the back and forth, which I know these guys love to do, um, but you know, Tim was a real one and sticking up for me, uh, when I was just getting [laughs] attacked on all angles.

Like, I don't simp for anybody, and I'm sure there's plenty of people that disagree with what I have to say.

There's plenty of things that I disagree with Top Lobster, but I don't go at him and try to make a, [laughs] a point of him.

And to which I wrote, and then I'll end it, and then we'll get into, we'll get into Tim West's comment right here.

me what you've got coming up in the literary world?

Well, I'm kind of I said before I probably wouldn't write another biography again because they're too much like hard work I am getting to a point where because I've been writing so many books I've been anything up to five books a year for a long time and the sort of the conveyor belt I'm kind of getting fed up with that now and there are no the last sort of Person I wrote a book with who I was a big fan of was Timothy West.

I wrote a book with him not that about a year or two before he passed away called Prue and Me.

It was a memoir about his about their 60 year marriage, which was an absolute joy.

absolutely the right call.
