Hello
T
0:46Tim StillmanHOST
and welcome to the Arsenal Women Arsecast on arseblog.com with me, your host Tim Stillman.
T
0:53Tim StillmanHOST
One of my favourite comedians, Bill Hicks, somewhat departed a few decades ago now.
T
1:00Tim StillmanHOST
He used to open his shows sometimes and he used to say, excuse me while I plaster on a fake smile and trundle through this shit one more time.
T
1:50Tim StillmanHOST
And to go over a very familiar game with some very familiar storylines, as ever, is our co-host Jamie Spangher.
T
1:59Tim StillmanHOST
Jamie, hay fever aside, how are you doing?
J
2:02Jamie SpangherHOST
Hay fever aside, hay fever is the best thing that's going on in this morning, actually, Tim.
J
2:08Jamie SpangherHOST
I feel like I'm stuck in the back rooms.
Can LCL be WSL title challengers? | Groundhog Day for Arsenal

But I
C

think another thing that Slager said, sorry, just to wind back a little bit, is that they're kind of getting, I think it was Tim Stillman put like a post out where it's like, I think they've conceded first like four or five times in the league or something.
C
37:39Charlie ParksHOST
Yeah.
C
37:39Charlie ParksHOST
this season um and it's happened again yeah and then slagers is kind of saying it looks like it's fucking groundhog day and it's like slagers is saying like they've conceded first so then they kind of panic and that's when the decision making goes out the window and it all becomes a bit desperate so another example that i wrote down was like about five minutes after that standby example i gave catley has sort of just appeared in the final third a
M
38:42Matt CloughHOST
God, someone's got to do something.
M
38:43Matt CloughHOST
I mean, I'm surprised we're not getting, you know, Mesa having a dig.
C
38:46Charlie ParksHOST
But that's another thing that Tim Stillman said as well, is that, like, the equaliser, they haven't practised that.
C
38:53Charlie ParksHOST
Oh,
All the drama of Matchweek 8 | Decoding the WSL
L

It felt like it had solved that left-back issue of We'd seen targeted with Birmingham, and obviously that wasn't the case that you just mentioned.
L
29:12Laura HowardGUEST
And I think Tim Stillman did a really good thread on this, actually, in terms of how it's Arsenal's overall pressing structure of a team issue that that goal came from and kind of overcommitting players up front, which led to gaps in the defence that Villa could then exploit.
L
29:30Laura HowardGUEST
And that becomes apparent on the left side.
L
29:32Laura HowardGUEST
So I don't even know if this is a particularly defensive point.
Arsenal End Anfield Drought With Quality and Composure

You can listen to Clive on the Instagram reaction yesterday.
E

But today we got a banger because not only is Tim here.
E
4:02Elliot SmithHOST
Hello, Tim.
E
4:03Elliot SmithHOST
Hello there.
E
4:04Elliot SmithHOST
But Teo Papula is here.
T
4:28Tayo PopoolaGUEST
Hopefully I can be a bit more Myles Lewis Skelly than, I don't know, Isaac Hayden or something.
T
4:33Tayo PopoolaGUEST
And I thought of Isaac Hayden because he was on the bench.
T
4:37Tayo PopoolaGUEST
The last time, Tim will know this anyway, he was on the bench the last time, not the last time, but a time when we beat Liverpool with Aaron Ramsey goals.
City get away with one in Bromley
J

Like.
J
33:40Jessy Parker HumphreysGUEST
I think we've said before and Tim Stillman's made the point like there's maybe a broader question around why there are so many tens floating around Arsenal that she doesn't want to use and why like Russo's one of the few players she seems to trust and blah blah blah even though these should be signings that she wants to work with and Slagers is currently in this world where she just plays whatever her last starting lineup was that worked.
J
34:02Jessy Parker HumphreysGUEST
Although obviously she sort of hauled what Hines and Reutler offer halftime here.
J
34:06Jessy Parker HumphreysGUEST
So, you know, again, I think that sort of shows how much kind of patience or care or enjoyment she gets out of watching those players play.
Have Arsenal turned the corner in the WSL?
L
11:28Lianne SandersonHOST
I mean, there's been a lot of noise about the Arsenal and many voices have spoken out, including people like yourself, experts as well.
L
11:34Lianne SandersonHOST
Tim Stillman from the Arseblog had this to say about the current situation at the club.
T
11:47Tim StillmanSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
that there might be some wrinkles and it might take a little bit of time to settle down.
T
11:52Tim StillmanSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
Unfortunately, it's been a lot kind of worse than that.

Somebody must have been pulled out of him.
I
46:46IanGUEST
And Tim Stillman actually put a post out.
I
46:49IanGUEST
Was it Tim? I think saying that the difference between what the barometer of what's classed as a foul on Giocares oh no it was Phil Costa it was Phil Costa compared to what's what Giocares has to do to give a foul is outrageous it's unbelievable he normally gets pulled from pillar to post and doesn't get free kicks but anyway I thought he was okay and that's kind of the problem with Giocares is that The best, sometimes we can say from, there's been a few standout games.

Tim Stillman, this is to the point about the booking.
E
31:35Edwin AshHOST
Tim Stillman, you know him of the Arsenal Vision Parish.
E
31:38Edwin AshHOST
He says, good.
E
31:39Edwin AshHOST
He's referring to Arteta clipping up clips of other managers being out of their technical area.
E
33:11Edwin AshHOST
And I think it cost us.
E
33:12Edwin AshHOST
It's really, really frustrating that referees are so easily confused.
E
33:17Edwin AshHOST
Susceptible is the right word that Tim Stillman uses to the discourse around Arsenal.
