Uh, you know, like, uh, like if you were in periphery or like protest the hero or like, you know, like animals as leaders, like those were three bands that we were championing very early on, I think, uh, you know, or a handful of other bands, like then you, you probably thought it was cool and, you know, you wanted to, uh, maybe you reached out to us and, you know, or we became friends at some point or whatever, but like, if you were, um, uh, uh you know i don't know like as i lay dying or like that was a band we like to pick on early on uh i'll say that like we were right about that we didn't know it at the time uh we just thought it was funny um like i remember one headline that was just as i lay dying colon way too popular uh and you know like like those men like i don't know that band in particular but like a band that that would be shot on for lack of a better you know those bands were definitely not happy uh and it was this time in the early blogosphere at least in metal where like and this is you know basically pre-face or like facebook was in its infancy um like people in bands and just people in general didn't really have thick skins yet right to be able to like let that stuff roll off of them uh so we we definitely made some enemies along the way too

well the internet was just a smaller place back then as well you know like if you're gonna if you're gonna dunk on non-tim lambesis or david draymond or whatever chances were they were probably going to see it now yeah i mean like you know there's 40 000 websites and nobody cares anymore but

Uh, totally like David Draymond with that's a perfect example, actually like that.

And like, that was somebody who we get, like, I don't think David ever reached out to us personally, but like through his people, you know, just like, kind of like guys, like what the fuck, you know? Um, but, um, but yeah, on the other side of it, I think there's this collective memory of Metal Sucks as doing mostly that kind of coverage, and we did a lot of that for sure, but we did just as much, if not more, glowingly positive coverage of bands as well.

So these two aren't a random pair.

Polarized is the melodic end, mid-tempo, more singing, still heavy.

Retribution, on the other hand, is quite extreme, fast, dark, no clean vocals anywhere.

This is also the first album from the lineup Lambesis rebuilt from scratch after the band imploded in 2024.
