Tim Hughes

I'm Luke Meats.

Every week we bring you deep relationship conversations with leading experts and couples just like you to help you build a stronger connection with your partner and know that whatever stage you're at, you're not alone.

This week, for the first time, we're on the road.

We travelled up to Birmingham to speak with Tim and Rachel Hughes.

Yeah,

in term time, Monday is sacred.

So I think we are kind of unapologetic, like... we need some time alone together.

And if we don't get that, then the whole thing's going to implode.

We were working on worship music.

So we were working with Matt Redman and Tim Hughes, which was part of a second wave of worship that came after Sonic Flood.

And so didn't tour for a year.

And through a long chain of events, ended up being asked by Randy Jackson from American Idol if I'd put a band together for Kelly Clarkson and Justin Greeney, who won the first season of Idol.

Um, so second clue is the worship clue.

So in this year, Tim Hughes released the album featuring Here I Am to Worship.

So r- Tim Hughes released-

Ooh

... an album featuring Here I Am to Worship, cementing it as a staple for every youth group and Sunday service.

Does that help you?

Well...

Who had Tim Hughes posters on their wall when they were younger? Let's not go there.

Right.

And look, obviously, if you're on an airplane and that hit the ground, you don't need to put on a Tim Hughes CD or something like that.

It's really okay just to scream help.

But when we're talking about developing a disciplined, deepening prayer life in our own personal quiet times or in church prayer meetings, it's a good idea to start with adoration.

The more we magnify God in worship, the more the image of God is magnified in us.

Tim Hughes says this: When we encounter God, uncreated, all-powerful, self-existent maker of all things, uncontainable, unbreakable, unfathom-- I can't say that word, unfathomable [laughs] and infinite, we find perspective.

We are left ruined, satisfied and dissatisfied at the same time.

We begin a journey thirsting for more of God, desperate to understand more clearly the character and nature of God.
