It, I mean, that takes years.

We're going to be talking about the game versus Purdue, but then also kind of a macro.

Being a student in 2017, back in the early Lovey era, end of the Tim Beckman, Ron Zook era, just kind of macro on Illinois as a football school.

I've talked about it so many times on different podcasts about Illinois is that momentum is so fickle at the University of Illinois because of the culture of the school.

We're not a football school.

And as a student, like you risk getting into that kind of mindset among students where it's like, oh, well, we suck again we're illinois um the last two years were kind of hey we're finally good in football let's go let's have a great time um but you risk losing a lot of the students interests um i know it's a different era than when i was a student in 2017 but um when it was the first year of lovely when it was the first year or the last few years of tim beckman nobody cared and every people would laugh at the football games nobody would be going you're not at that level yet i don't think you're at tim beckman levels yet you just had two really good years you made a lot of changes to the game day experience to make it fun um and but you do risk going into that if you cannot somewhat salvage the season end on a high note and really really have you know a good year next year because next year if you repeat this it's probably going to be back to, you know, kind of bottom dwelling of the Big Ten.

So momentum's really fickle at the University of Illinois.

We've had Hardy Nickerson go.

We've had, obviously, Tim Beckman left four or five days before the season started because of the player mistreatment.

I believe Garrett McGee was in season as well.

Or maybe not.

That reminds me of, like, I remember when Tim Beckman was coaching Illinois, and it w- I can't remember who they played, but they gave up, like, 28 points in like the second or third quarter.

And Tim Beckman, after we got our ass kicked, was in the press conference like, "You know, if you take away that third quarter, we won the game."

[laughs]

[laughs] Like, that's true.

Yeah, it's probably not going to work out.

You don't know who we're talking about, do you, Coop? Using context clues, I think it's Tim Beckman.

But Javari to Barnett changed the rushing stats in the fourth quarter as well with eight carries for 50 yards.

But take out that Lafrey run, not to go Tim Beckman on people, but in the first three quarters, you take out that Lafrey run, 17 carries for 58 yards.

And I know the offensive line wasn't blocking it all that well, especially in these inside zones.

But I still want the running back to make some plays when it's not perfect in front of them.
