Tile

We've started a construction company that builds homes, does remodels, additions, patios, pergolas, a gutter company, and a garage store and service company.

And we've more recently started a specialty roofing company called Signature Slate and Tile.

Oh.

Because we have a particular team member who is really passionate about that world.

And so, and the other companies were named, you know, with slate and tile as their specialty.

And so the homeowner would just feel, because these are small jobs, as you know, 150 to a million dollars.

And so, uh, we started City Interest Rate & Tile recently, so it's six, uh, companies, uh,

now.

Today, we have a very special guest.

We have Adam Wilson from Icon Tile.

He is local to my area, and we wanted to get a tile expert on the show because, you know, we're always talking about him.

So, hi, Adam.

Welcome.

That was like, well, was it good stuff? But...

No, no, like that you actually do cool stuff.

So like why I wanted you on the show, what we typically may complain about tile installers specifically is a lot of designers here know a lot, tile guys, we call them.

No, this has been an extraordinary amount of water.

And a lot of it is because Tarmac and Tile is where there used to be farmlands, where there used to be woodlands, bushland, if you like.

And all of that in that growth area around Morayfield, where we were meant to be broadcasting today from the Stella Rosser Cafe for Project Pink.

All of that's now gone in the last 20 years, or so much of it's gone, and it's become commercials, commercial properties, become shopping centres, become housing, tarmac and tile now feeding water into creeks.

You know, I, I don't know.

know.When I worked for Kohler, um, K- Kohler Company, they, um, identified me as someone that should go out to Ann Sacks, which is one of their brands, Tile and Stone, out in Portland, Oregon.

So little mi- Midwestern gal here, um, moved out to Portland, Oregon.

Wow.

[laughs]

It was a magical experience.

So, um, I was in Tile and Stone for four years, and mosaics were a big deal, so I learned about not just, you know, the, the beauty of mosaics, but also the craft behind mosaics, um, and putting all the different pieces together.

But at the end of the day, imperfection was better than perfection, right?
