And so here at Navin Field, where 45,000 fans can watch the every movement of the contending league representatives, the atmosphere is full of the hope and faith that goes with rabid partisanism.

Those of the hometowners who favor the Detroit Tigers can only see the names of Mickey Cochran and Schoolboy Rose, while elsewhere the fans favoring the Redbirds and Sinclairs are cognizant of the batting power of the visiting Cardinals.

For the winner series of 1934 has in front of it and behind it As amazing a story as ever has been recorded in the already well-stocked archives of the glamorous and ancient platform known as the National Games.

Ladies and gentlemen, it seems that we're having a delay in our play in our baseball game this afternoon for the simple reason that there must be ground rules to be discussed.

Incidentally, Fran didn't go into the ground rules, but...

Here at Navin Field, there are some peculiar niches that have to be taken care of and dug out holes, and so there have been some agreements regarding these ground rules.

In one place along the first baseline, it's quite possible for the right fielder and the first baseman to dig in between the pavilion and the grandstand and go back quite a distance into the crowd to get a ball, but they've roped it off today, and that's one thing they won't be able to do.

They're ready to get the pictures to shoot right down the right field foul line over first base together.

There's the band, and you can no doubt hear the whistles on these microphones placed around here to give you all the thrill and all the color to bring you right here to Navin Field in Detroit for this great World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals, who nose out the New York Giants in the National League, and between the Detroit Tigers, who overpowered the American League, to come sailing in, coasting down the last ten days or two weeks of their scheduled season.

Al Duck, of course, was down here officiating in front of the band a while ago.
