TIE fighter

So you get little Star Wars, you know.

X-Wing, TIE Fighter, things like that to kind of post around it.

And I think that would be really cool.

But it's that classic Star Wars logo that I like.

Oh, just the detail on that.

And you got that frigate and just reminds me again, too, of going back to some of the video games.

Have you ever played like X-Wing, TIE Fighter? You may not have played those games, but oh, those games to see ships like these in front of you, which is full detail, 3D art at the time.

Amazing.

It's the version I grew up with, but I haven't seen it in so long that I feel like it's being all mishmashed together.

And I know there will be some shots of X-Wings and TIE Fighters that I'm like, oh, I miss that.

I miss some of the dog fighting and some of the...

I think in the 90s in Flight Simms.

There was a franchise that popped up on computer from LucasArts, and it just, I don't know, it managed to just kind of capture my attention, make me feel like I was in the cockpit of an X-Wing or even a TIE Fighter.

So my number eight is actually the game that combined both of them after each had their own game in this franchise, but I'm talking about X-Wing versus TIE Fighter.

fantastic little flight sim from lucasarts like i said and there's just something about it like you could manage your shields your your engine your weapons you get sent out on missions where you're either escorting a ship and you had to ensure it got to its destination safely or you're just dog fighting but there was something about this franchise this one in particular i think because you know you kind of play both sides that just as a i guess i would have been in my early teens Just kept me hooked to my old-ass compact computer with a CD-ROM running Windows 3.1.

It had the J.

Will soundtrack to it, and it just, like I said, it made you feel like, okay, I know why Luke Skywalker liked getting behind the yoke of these things, so...

I got X-Wing vs.

TIE Fighter at number eight.

And there was a big cardboard box.

There was an X-Wing in there, Darth Vader, TIE Fighter, Imperial Troop Transport, about a dozen figures and a Millennium Falcon.

So I literally got the first 12 and all the vehicles in one go.

None of it was in its original boxes, but basically that was the core of my Star Wars collection when I started out.

It was actually a 1979 release.

Remember, the big action figure toy of 78 was the Death Star, a playset so big it fit a whole monster in one of its smallest components.

The only three vehicles released in 1978 were the TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and Landspeeder, three fairly affordable products.

That is, they were easy purchases after you'd purchased a few action figures.

What would I as a little boy at eight or seven...

What would I want to play with? And the easiest thing was when they started talking about the X-Wings and the TIE Fighters and the Millennium Falcon, which we really didn't know what they looked like or anything.

instead, they take the garbage, which is the thrice-stolen Millennium Falcon, and Then there's a thrilling fight scene as they fly through a Star Destroyer chased by two TIE fighters.

Finn manages to shoot them both down using an epic dead loop on Rey's piloting part.

And they're just having a really great time.

Decides, hey, you've seen the map, which is as good as the droid for me because I can use the force and I'm in this continual competitive relationship with Hux.

So I'm going to capture you and take you away.

Right then, the Resistance shows up and starts tearing the TIE Fighters a new one.

And it's led by Poe, who apparently got to live the events of Crashing on Jakku.
