Chris TitusHOST
56:12
I haven't really messed with it that much.
Chris TitusHOST
56:14
Thunar, let's test it.
Chris TitusHOST
56:18
That is not working.
Chris TitusHOST
56:21
Apparently I'm missing Thunar.
Chris TitusHOST
56:25
Yes, I am.
Chris TitusHOST
56:26
All right.
Chris TitusHOST
12:56
And you'll notice it is also themed here.
Chris TitusHOST
13:00
you'd be like man that sure is nice a lot of other distros forget to set a lot of like gtk and qt uh very variable so you don't have uniform appearance matching frankly the hardest part of setting all this up was the appearance matching between sudo user and all of it so trying to get that universal has been um something i've been chasing for about a last month File managers using Thunar, that's the XFCE file manager.
Chris TitusHOST
13:29
I did not roll my own file manager.
Chris TitusHOST
13:32
File access and shares, if you're using SMB, those types of things.
Chris TitusHOST
13:36
GVFS, so you can see that in Thunar.
Chris TitusHOST
13:38
Tumblr goes ahead and pulls in and builds thumbnail databases for everything in your Thunar.
Chris TitusHOST
13:47
So you can see like right here was like my AI Doom thumbnail and those types of things.
Chris TitusHOST
13:52
You can see that with actually, I haven't opened the file.
MattHOST
16:36
Not necessarily easier, more efficient in the terminal, right? It's, it's, it, it...
MattHOST
16:41
It's not like you can't do something r- a lot like file management really easy in, like, Thunar.
MattHOST
16:45
You can, right? But it's more efficient to do a lot of things in the terminal simply because of the ease of repetition and automation.
MattHOST
16:52
Like, you can, you can do a lot of things.

13 MINS LATER

MattHOST
30:13
And my other one is there's, it's a lot harder to automate something in a, in a GUI.
MattHOST
30:17
Usually you have to do very repetitive tasks.
MattHOST
30:19
So just, just for example, if you're deleting a lot of files in, say, Thunar, and they're all over the place, you have your hand on the mouse all the time.
MattHOST
30:28
You can click, right click one, click delete, confirm.
DrewHOST
4:39
bind to a key.
DrewHOST
4:41
So super F is Thunar, super E is Genie, super B is Firefox, and that's all you need to know, okay? Although I do have super O, which is OBS, and super G, which is GIMP.
DrewHOST
4:56
But other than that, I, you know, that's, that's kind of, I mean, I use like, okay, that's six key binds and that's really all I need.
MattHOST
5:05
Drew, do you have key bindings to pause your recording for when you're doing a video so that you have breaks?
