Thrush Hermit

It does kinda sound like it could be, like, a Sloan B-side, right? That was the song Gift Shop from the Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island band Gizmo.

The band is fronted by Julien Kitson, who grew up listening to '90s slacker rock and Halifax rock bands like Thrush Hermit, Sloan, the Superfriends, fronted by Q senior producer Matt Murphy.

Not to mention Julian's dad fronted the Celtic rock band Rawlins Cross.

So all of that filters into the music Julian writes for his own band, Gizmo.

It's not much, but I give it all to you

For me, it was like, yeah, like Sloan and Thrush Hermit and, uh, and yeah, the Super Friends obviously.

It's a kind of a similar thing in Charlottetown, not in the '90s, but, um, but in, I feel like currently or within the last, like, five years, like post-COVID, there's, there's been a similar, like, it's just such a small community, right? So people just get creative in the Maritimes and, and people are so supportive.

They landed on Halifax.

So Halifax kind of became the next Seattle briefly for a, a few years there, and around '93, '94, there were bands, uh, Joel Plaskett's first band, Thrush Hermit.

There was Sloan.

There was, uh, Hardship Post, a band called Jail, a band called Superfriends.
