Three to Get Married

So what did Bishop Sheen write on marriage?

I mean, his famous book is Three to Get Married.

Right.

Why three people? Because it's the man, the woman, and God.

We're looking forward to meeting up with a sainted husband or wife.

Yes.

The three to get married.

The man, the woman and God.

His cause for canonization is progressing, and his videos and books are widely viewed and in persistent demand.

But of all his writings, Archbishop Fulton Sheen's most influential and practical guides by far were These Are the Sacraments and Three to Get Married.

Well, these two books are once again available in a rich single volume, along with comprehensive commentaries by the late Reverend Father John Hardin.

Joining me today to share more about this new anthology is Alan Smith, the founder and director of the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Mission Society of Canada.

Thanks for having me.

Well, Al, the two books in this volume are These Are the Sacraments and Three to Get Married.

And we'll ask him about why he's messing around with Peoria, because that's important.

In addition to being the creator of the website BishopsheenToday.com, he is the editor of a best-selling book called The Cries of Jesus from the Cross, a Fulton Sheen anthology.

I am very, very happy to have you here.

I am a big fan of Archbishop Sheen myself, and I really like your book, The Cries of Jesus from the Cross.

I've been using it for my own Lenten meditations.

So I think he's gonna be a model for the church to get us back on track with his clarity on the church teachings, you know, using philosophy, good philosophy breeds good theology.

And I just had to say that because Mother Teresa really loved Fulton Sheen when she read his book, The Life of Christ, which is right here in my hand, right here.

You gotta read The Life of Christ.

Mother said that was the greatest book, and she had her sisters, even today, they're still reading The Life of Christ at their dinner table.

And Mother Teresa carried the book with her always, and she didn't carry a lot with her.

So you can see how she valued that book.

They read it especially during Holy Week.

Now, Father Andrew Apostoli, who was ordained by Fulton Sheen in 1967, who died in 2017.
