Okay.

So, 2017, the nominees of the year were Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, The Post, The Shape of Water, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

The winner being The Shape of Water.

What was the vibe at the time by the critics? Did they like that The Shape of Water won? It was not their favorite.

It stars Willem Dafoe, Brooklyn Kimberly Prince, and Bria Benate.

It's directed by Sean Baker, written by Sean Baker and Chris Bergach, nominated for one at 1-0.

And it faces our ninth seed, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, a drama about a woman trying to get justice for her daughter.

It stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, and Sam Rockwell, written and directed by Martin McDonough, nominated for seven at 1-2.

People forget about it.

In many ways, as a... plot i would say it's better than the dark knight the dark knight has a lot better like performances and a lot of other things but as it's sort of constructed plot the dark batman begins it's kind of a masterpiece um then curses i'm going to curse again you know nathan took my one bad laugh or another one uh but for i'm gonna curse another movie that decided does that sort of similar kind of thing it's three billboards outside ebbing missouri and it's a movie a About this small town that has an injustice, you know, a woman's daughter dies and the killer was never brought to justice.

And reason I get it has so many amazing actors in it.

It's kind of just amazing.

... then she did the two Martin McDonagh films.

In Three Billboards she's the, like, idiot girlfriend, right? That's her role?

Well, no, I'm gonna re-watch the McDonnas 'cause I think, 'cause I think, uh, 'cause of Wild Horse Nine coming out.

Yeah.

And then Three, Three Billboards, obviously.

Oh, God.

So I'll, okay.

Uh, from the movie Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Oh, everyone.

Basically everyone, yes, but I'll bring up Mildred in particular, played by Frances McDormand.

So I, uh...

But yeah, my-

Well, mine was, mine was going to see Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and I said, "Look, I, I really want to, um, watch this film, but I really want to kiss you as well, so can we do it now before it starts?"

That's, I mean, that's very delicate.

That's all she does.

Well, no, but the other one is Three Billboards.

She's like Three Billboards or whatever.

That wasn't Coen

Brothers, but it almost felt Coen-ish.

Um, as far as the, as far as stuff like the, the, the stuff I like to experiment with, especially like the, the branching paths and stuff, games like conquest of the longbow were, were pretty inspirational as far as the, you know, the, the, you have choices you have to make and there's stuff going on behind the scenes that affects the outcome that you're not necessarily made aware of.

Um, But yeah, even movies like Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, there was one scene in that movie that I was like, oh, this is great.

I would love to have something like this.

I'm talking about the scene where Sam Rockwell's character goes up to the newspaper office and just throws the guy out the window and he rolls down the front of the thing and just plops on the ground.
