since, like, Thomas Morstead.

Like, truly.

Like, it's just been just guys in, guys out, guys in, guys out.

He loves his teammates and to have them vote on him and entrust him to be a captain, to be a standard bearer would mean the world for him.

Well, now he gets to live that out here in 2026 one of the cool stories uh from this captain uh selection and then finally for special teams a pair of special teams captains or a pair of captains that we associate with special teams i guess i should say uh zach wood who goes into his now uh fourth season as a captain as the longest running Special teamer that the Saints have on their roster, right? We've seen guys like Will Lutz, Thomas Morstead, those guys be special teams captains before, but now with two new boots on the ground for Ryan Wright at kicker, excuse me, at punter, as well as Daniel Carlson.

Yeah, kicker.

It felt like Zach Wood coming back for another year as the long snapper coming back for another year as the captain of that special teams unit, particularly that piece of the rotation made a ton of sense.

It was asked yesterday what it was like to have half the locker room be between the age of 22 and 24.

Over the years, seeing the different ages come through here, obviously guys like Calais have come through or Thomas Morstead, Joe Cardona last year.

It's refreshing this year with these guys and seeing all the energy that they bring and the right mindset is the biggest thing when you've got young guys, but they don't act young.

A lot of them act very mature.

This is the one thing that Banjo needs to do, right? You mentioned the punter move.

Everyone went nuts on Twitter when Morstead got released and they found a really good replacement.

You had one of the greatest special teams in the history of DVOA.

And now... you got to find a kicker.

You had a different rookie punter for three years in a row.

And that comes on the heels of, you know, Thomas Morstead being a rock for you at punter for, what, 10 years, 12 years? Like...

For what, 12 years? And then you went to Blake Gilligan, who was really consistent, and he was there for a couple years.

Then things just didn't go well with Blake.

Can you just pluck another kicker and figure it out? Maybe there's still time.

You know, they got rid of Thomas Morstead and hand up.

I didn't like that at the time.

I was critical of that move.

I'll give the Jets the benefit of the doubt from the standpoint of a year ago.

They moved on from Thomas Morstead, and they figured it out with Austin McNamara.

I think Chris Banjo's really good at special teams coordination, so I'm hoping that Groupie could be their guy, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned because I just think the margin for error for the Jets is so razor thin, you can't be losing any games because of your kicker.

That could cost several people in the organization their job at the end of the day.

Foreigners aren't worried about that.

They did this with Thomas Morstead last year as well.
