This Bridge Called My Back

And understand that, you know, there were a lot of backs.

Like there's a book called This Bridge Called My Back.

And there are people listening who quietly did the work in their communities and lost their reputations and access to institutional spaces.

And the approval of people who had the ability to say, yes, you can have $200,000 for this.

And so I say that as a backdrop to ask us, where are we gonna pick up the pieces? And we have to preserve our libraries, be very careful with our archives, et cetera, et cetera, that they can't get their hands on.

And we have to think together, where do we start again? Now, for example, for me, I started, I think, thinking in these terms with this bridge called my back.

And that can be an inspiration for us in a second iteration with a different terminology than this bridge called my back in order to advance the process.

And that's an idea.

I have been thinking about what we need to do.

So this is a way of focusing on skin color instead of histories of oppression.

And there's actually going to be a famous book that's going to be published in 1981, an anthology called This Bridge Called My Back, radical writings by women of color.

And it's going to be, you know, Arab women, Native American women, black women, all kinds of other minority women, except for Jews.

And so this is when Jews are going to start saying, Jewish women will say, you know, look at our history.
