And they didn't realize that Babylon is reggae addiction about them.

And I remember one of my biggest moments as a singer, and I was still at journalism school, was when we played alongside the reggae group Third World when they came to Zimbabwe.

So it was an amazing moment for me.

And when I look back, I was actually asked to write an article about me, about myself, by the Qatar Rule of Centre.

Tomorrow, people, I was in Jamaica.

You know, there's a band called Third World, and there's this guitarist named Cat.

I was at some kind of thing, and he was the one who told me, yo, this song.

And I was like, eh? I don't know what you're talking about, bro.

In 1997, he moved to South Africa and co-founded the acclaimed duo Black Sunshine with Neo Muyanga.

In 1999, the group performed at Artists for a New South Africa.

In 2005, Black Sunshine was invited by Nelson Mandela to perform at the 46664 Concert in George, South Africa, and Masoko performed solo at Carnegie Hall.

Other highlights include the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the 2014 Limon Roots Festival, and the 25th anniversary of South Africa's democracy.

We should have the consciousness that says, no, no, no, no, that was the wrong way.

But because he banned so many books, no other perspectives were given to our people.

And because we've been fighting poverty for so long, the intellectual class of folks that knows these things is a small group.

And so that's one of the reasons chose music is because music allows us the ability to get messages out to large amounts of people who don't read per se but if we look at the work of let's say of Bob Marley we can see that or Peter Tosh we see that here are these anti-colonial messages packed like bombs into songs that allow people to begin to understand the history of Africa differently and shift our understandings of how what we're really fighting as a collective people because Malawi struggle, as you say, it's not unique.

I believe Fred Thomas might have been honored that night as well, too.

But, uh, that that very first jazz fest in the fall of 92 was a rousing success uh third world was the featured artist the first the first show was the first uh iteration of it was thursday friday saturday the first weekend And then Friday, Saturday, the second weekend.

Excellent setup.

The majority of the attendees, for those who don't like to hang out on the field, just walking up and down, you can sit down in the grandstand.

The bands would perform, I believe, around second base or in between second base and the Pitcher's Monk.

And Tito Puente performed there.
