Thinley Norbu

So I went ...

My dad brought me to visit Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, actually against my will.

I didn't want to go.

You know, we had...

Yeah.

So, uh, one day I'm, I'm in, uh, uh, rural New York State and, uh, my teacher at that point was Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, and he sits me down and he says, "Uh, Sam, uh, please write down what you learned from, uh, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

It will be important for the future, uh, because he is so important to the spread of Dharma in the West." And I said yes, but it took me a long time to make that yes a reality.

So, uh, it comes out.

He's not gonna be reelected, uh, except for, uh, Bill Maher thinks he's gon- he's gonna run again in 2028, you know? Uh, but it's just, it, that's part of the, the rent-free thing.

But it's no different, uh, for a Dharma person how we relate to the phenomena of the world.

Um, my t- uh, my teacher, Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, said, "Be aware of politics.

Be aware of what's going on in the world." Um, in fact, he, uh, uh, listened to, uh, the BBC World Re- World Re- uh, Report on the shortwave radio, uh, uh, every morning after practice, or so I was told, or so he said anyway.
