D
4:19Daniel GrayshonGUEST
It started out as a, as a game called Dark Camelot, where you were playing, um...
D
4:26Daniel GrayshonGUEST
You, you were going against, you know, oppressors and, and all these other, these other kind of fanatics really.
D
4:34Daniel GrayshonGUEST
Um, and the gameplay kind of changed quite rapidly, um, to a game about a thief and really emphasizing the, um, the stealth aspect of things.

Thief the Dark Project would have been on there, but he did not actually work on that game.
D

and good game design is kind of eternal it doesn't matter if it's still being made so in a way they i don't know they do hold up but not in the way that i think a lot of people use the phrase yeah good game design is uh is immortal
P
60:36Patrick ArthurGUEST
Yeah, like, for example, one of the things that one of my favorite games to play are the old Thief games, Thief 1 and Thief 2 in particular.
P
60:45Patrick ArthurGUEST
And I think that what's interesting about these games is that they operate with a lot more restraint than modern immersive sims.
P
60:57Patrick ArthurGUEST
Modern immersive sims tend to have a lot more RPG systems that power up your character over the course of the game until by the end of it, whether it's Deus Ex or Dishonored or even... prey you are far far more powerful than you were than you started in thief while you do get some more powerful equipment generally the thing that's getting stronger is your skills as a character like you play the game better and you learn to play the game better And I think that even though it's far more simplistic than those games, it's different approach to, I guess, immersive Sims stealth still holds up today because it is doing something because of the intention and way in which it does it.

It's not that Thief is the same exactly, but it's very good at executing on its premise.
D
61:59Dave JacksonHOST
I gotta play those.
D

It's been on my list for years now at this point.
D

I like Dishonored too much to not play Thief at some point.
