And so after a year at sea, around about the Yugoslav wars, um they announced that the world navy was shrinking because it was the end of the cold war so we didn't need so many submarines and ships and i'd already been selected for submarine service so i put my hand up and said i'll take redundancy because i i see myself as more likely to be a leader a senior leader in industry than i will ever be in the navy so my brother stayed in for 27 years and i just did five years So then I left the Navy, did a postgrad in engineering management.

And that's where I learned all about Toyota, Japanese management principles, Theory X and Theory Z.

The new new product development game, I actually read that in 94.

So about the same time as Schwaber and Sutherland were keen up to that and got into manufacturing engineering.

This is theory X and Y.

This is theory Z.

Write them down because that way you'll have your running list of them.

That's a great way to study it on your own.
