Théo Rochette

action news and I missed Carter Guylander in that mix too.

There was one other piece of news that came out from the Griffins today is that Theo Rochette stepped away from the team for a personal leave of absence.

The organization in their statement said there's no further comments on it and that's the same for us.

No further comment.

And can't forget kissing and setting this one up as well.

Not long after that, about five minutes left into the game, Cameron Butler gets his second of the year, assisted by Alex Kanaklapir and Theo Rochette.

Good move by Theo Rochette to make the play even get started.

Cameron Butler with the accurate shot to get

Yeah, and I want to shout out Kanaklapir for just being a dog defensively in this game, rewarding the defense with a lot of turnovers and sending the puck up ice often and battling in front of the net.

Shai Booyam gets his first of the season from Dylan James and Yassi Kiskanen.

And then Cameron Butler adds his second of the season from Alex Kanek-Liepert and Theo Rochette.

Now...

Manitoba does try to claw back into this one and make it a one goal game again with a shorthanded goal, which I wasn't thrilled about when it happened, but not much Augustine could do on that play.

I don't know if we said this on the show or not, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself.

This is the second time in a row, second year in a row in his career where he's had to go through the NHL training camp.

the preseason in the nhl all that fun stuff before starting an american league season and he's on the other side of his career not his younger years that takes a lot of the body so getting up to speed might have taken a couple of games but the leadership was always there still showing guys how to do the right things especially on this younger roster but boy you can really tell he's turned it on especially in the fact that he's leading the team in shots right now and it's almost not even close he has 31 shots right in front of theo rochette who has 22 that's your next closest on the team He is trying to get the puck on net as much as humanly possible.

Averaging .9 points per game now this season.

We talked about Trey Augustine already.

Um, a couple of signings that the organization made on a professional level in Sutter Mazzotti, uh, from Notre Dame, and Theo Rochette from the Swiss League.

Both of those players were free agents, and they also bring in a handful of veterans like Wilmer Skoog, um, and defensemen.

A lot, a lot of turnover on this D core because of all of the graduated players.

And- The, on the defensive side, I, Jacob Bryson has actually been a, a pleasant surprise.

Uh, just very calm at the defensive end, uh, been able to move the puck out.

Uh, Theo Rochette was at, uh, on the offensive side, impressed us in the se- in the preseason, and then also, uh, just these, these last four games.

I mean, a goal and two assists as well.

He was, uh, 29th overall in 2021, so nice talent coming in.

Um, cool seeing, bringing in some younger guys like him and Theo Rochette who are making a contribution.

Chase Stillman definitely looking good.

Carter Baer looking really good.

Yeah, great awareness by Dominic Shine to just send that puck on net knowing Sheldon Dreiss was in the area and just so happens to get lucky off that back foot.

They did review it as not a kicking motion, so good goal for the Grand Rapids Griffins there.

Then a lot of grinding, a lot of time killed here for the Griffins, a lot of good dumps and eventually we'll get to about 25 seconds left in this game and Theo Rochette will kind of close it up with an empty net goal assisted by Noah Downer-Nelson and Dylan James.

And that will be with an empty netter.

John Leonard did return from his injury finally and made his season debut on Sunday, so that was great to see.

Theo Rochette got banged up in the game on Friday, missed Saturday, but was back in the lineup on Sunday.

And Sutter Mazzetti got banged up in the, about three minutes into the third period on Friday during the home opener against Manitoba, did not return to that game, and did not return for the weekend.

No updates or anything on that timeline there for him.

Yeah, and then we have a couple new additions to the team.

We have Ronnie Attard, Chase Stillman, Wilmer Skoog, Theo Rochette, Tag Bertuzzi, Cameron Butler, Kaiden Bolson, Marcus Crawford, and Jonathan Lemieux.

Yeah, a lot of Toledo names here.

Looks like we'll be bolstering that Toledo lineup.

Uh, a couple guys like Tag Bertuzzi, Cameron Butler, or Tag Bertuzzi, Kaiden Bolson, Marcus Crawford, and Lemieux all look like guys that will help down in Toledo and could be in rotation with Grand Rapids as well.

Ronnie Attard, Chase Stillman, Theo Rochette, these g- these are guys that are brought over to help the Griffins, being that we have lost all those departing defensemen.

Ronnie Attard is a good veteran to slide in there, bigger guy.

Chase Stillman, unfortunately, will start the season injured.
