The Wounded

Again, I would have left it more ambiguous, especially given that the likelihood that we're going to have Joe Morton back.

And make it more like The Wounded, that Next Generation episode with Bob Gutton as the captain that's got the heart on for the Cardassians.

And he's like, I'm telling you, they are fortifying their troops and they're planning another attack.

We got to watch out.

And I just think this is a better version of that story.

So I think this is like The Wounded.

And you have Captain Maxwell in his ship going from place to place doing terrible things again to the Cardassians.

And we need to come and talk to him and explain to him that he's doing the wrong thing and that he's misguided, that he's not the hero that he believes himself to be.

Do you know what I mean? The two men understand one another and he's resigned to the fact that Sanders has been given this job.

I thought all of that was really good, but what I thought was really strange, particularly given the sort of thing that you said about Star Trek The Next Generation last week, is that this is very much a space problem procedural.

It is almost exactly like The Wounded.

And in fact, they actually lean into it because the ship is damaged in an encounter with Eddington earlier in the episode.

[laughs] The gentleman whom I played, uh, the real person, was very pissed off about this because there was no sense that he was right, and he shouldn't have had to, to jump off the boat.

Well, speaking of people that do things 'cause they think they're right, Captain Benjamin Maxwell, The Next Generation, "The Wounded," great episode.

And it does turn out at the end, [laughs] they allude that you, your intentions-

Well, that, yeah.

Yes.

We were both in, uh, Big River, a Huckleberry Finn musical, and we both had a lot of fun doing that.

I don't think I had any scenes with him in The Wounded, but he was, uh, certainly there.

And in this, the, uh, place where they filmed this, they have plastered all over all the walls examples of the word burgers that Data had to spit out, and, and they were tongue twisters, and they were loaded with this words that don't mean anything except in Star Trek land.
