The World Is Flat

Now, I'm not saying we can get rid of all tests, but for me in my class, where I had a lot of freedom in my computer science class, I truly adjusted.

And it was just a few years later when I co-created the Flat Classroom Project, studying Thomas Friedman's book, The World is Flat, with another teacher in Bangladesh.

We had our students write wikis together about the different trends of globalization that were changing the world, and they outsourced their videos to each other.

Now, that was back in the day of 128K, 56K, so we literally were sitting at the school all night just trying to get a really small video to upload to their partners in Bangladesh and to download those.

The landscape has been level.

Thomas Friedman wrote that book back in 2005 called The World is Flat.

And that doesn't just extend to the global matters.

It's extending to all aspects of football outside of the realms of what's happening in the world at large.

Joining me now in New York Times Foreign Affairs columnist Tom Freeman.

He's the author of The World is Flat, A Brief History of the 21st Century, among many others.

Tom, why do you think it's already too late?

Name one other platform that does that for you.

One of my favorite books was by Tom Friedman, and the book is called The World is Flat.

And that really opened my eyes when he wrote it back in 2003.

If you have not read that book, it's an amazing book.

So two things on that.

First, the piece that I just published literally an hour ago talked about, I basically harked back to Thomas Friedman's The World is Flat from 20 years ago.

I said, okay, the internet made the world flat.

Meanwhile, the largest companies ever came out of that.

We first met when we worked on a project called the Flat Classroom Project together.

It was in Thomas Friedman's book, The World is Flat.

Remarkable innovator, educator, and also a Wall Street Journal And USA Today bestselling author.
