The Wishing-Chair

So he would read like The Fantastic Mr.

Fox and The Wishing Chair and The Faraway Tree and, and books like that.

And I, I sometimes wonder if this is why I have become a visual storyteller, is because I just lay in bed and saw the images, saw the pictures, like, created the, the world in my mind, a, a visual accompaniment to the, the stories that I was being read.

But when I took-- what brought me into reading for myself was information books because I just loved them as a child.

And that's what we are.

So I think that when I discovered books, you know, when I was... fives and would go to school, the favorite part of my day was when the teacher read a chapter, even though the chapter was magical, from The Wishing Chair or The Faraway Tree.

And I was just absolutely enamored of books and reading and being read to in stories.

And so I think when you get to be, for me, it was in my early 20s, I had just, I was doing a lit major as part of my teaching degree and that sort of unlocked a bit of the power or the mystery of stories and how they were constructed.
