Then I was thinking about El Sur, this director's, like, later film about an older daughter whose father was involved in the Spanish Civil War.

This time on the Republican side.

So these were people fighting who had previously been allies, now fighting in a civil war.

Um, the civil war is much more accurately p- um, depicted in the film, The Wind That Shakes the Barley, which mostly covers the War of Independence.

Uh, Cillian Murphy is the, is the, is the main actor.

It was, uh, I suppose it was, it was made by an Englishman, actually, called Ken Loach.

Because sometimes you take a book that's turned into a film and it gets, I would say, Hollywooded.

It gets destroyed.

Um, this is why I would, I would advocate, if you can, to watch the film, The Wind That Shakes the Barley.

Um, many of the actors in that film actually are not-- they're not actors at all.

So you're, you're singing to the, whereas I, I'll hold my hands up.

I've got a horrible feeling that if I, if I was to trace my family tree, it is, it's, i'd say chillingly english you know um sure but but i i also fully appreciate without getting too heavy the island have you you've got all the more reason for example in england where i was raised all the history classes and here's another example where england are once again the good guys right so i've grown up always believing that england are also I'm 48 so maybe things were taught differently in the 80s and 90s and then I watched the wind this is so heavy I'm so sorry what a first impression but then I watched the wind that shakes I think the wind that shakes the barley genuinely is the first time in my life where I've watched a film and gone

Are we not always the good guys? Are we the
