The Wild Animal Sanctuary

And this week, we have Mr. Scott Beckstead.

So Scott is the Chief Equine Program Director with the Wild Animal Sanctuary.

He's the legal expert and attorney in the animal protection sector.

So he's got a lot of knowledge and a lot of background on defending all animals, including the wild mustangs.

well, look, I, I worked for 19 months at the wild horse refuge in Northwestern Colorado owned and operated by the wild animal sanctuary.

And I lived on 30,000 acre or 30,000 acres.

When we started with the complete medical examination of all these animals here in Lujan Zoo, based on this examination, we evaluated that, uh, there are several animals that need urgent attention, and, uh, they, they need to be moved to sanctuaries and places where this is possible to be, uh, uh, um, ensured.

[screen whooshes] This week, 15 of these tigers and lions were taken to LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa, which is owned by FOUR PAWS, while the other 15 were transferred to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado.

Colorado.I feel well when I reach to my destination with the animal, and when I see them, I feel how this is valuable to save a life.

And our third story comes from africannews.com, but it originates in Argentina, and the title is Argentina's Big Cats Begin Relocation to Sanctuaries Abroad.

So last Monday, nine tigers and six lions were relocated from Zoo Lujan in Argentina and brought to the Lionsrock Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa, and eight tigers and seven lions will be transferred to the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado in the United States.

This is the work of the organization Four Paws, and I believe we covered the appalling conditions at the now-defunct zoo in previous episodes of Vegan Week.

Uh, just to refresh your memory, this is the zoo that was ordered to close, and the owners basically just left the animals there to die.
