What's it called? The Hole in the Moon? Yeah.

Yeah.

I love that album.

It's a silly thing I do, but I have a list that I believe now is maybe at six that I consider perfect songs.

I'll throw out two that I've nominated, and that's El Paso and Hole of the Moon.

I have to think about it a little bit more in this context.

I can't find a single bit of this song that's not every bit of that.

And the Waterboys, The Hole in the Moon, which I absolutely adore that

song.

And I think I've said this, definitely said this before, but when I went to a Joshua Tree show with my brothers at FedEx in Maryland, and my brother, a couple days later, texted me and said, what was the song they opened to? And I'm like, Sunday Bloody Sunday, jackass.

Uh, and so I kind of went back from, i- into writing, um, prose and poetry again.

And, uh, one of my first books I wrote, uh, was a book called, uh, The Whole of the Moon, and that came out about 10 years ago.

And I, I spent ages writing that book.

I sp- I suppose I spent maybe five years at it because I, I had no confidence as a writer, and I used to be just, you know, tipping away at it, you know, all the time.

Could you just tell us about those, please?

Yeah.

I, I, instead I, I wrote my first novel back, it come out in 2016, The Hole of the Moon, again inspired by music, you know, from the famous Waterboys song, uh, The Hole of the Moon.

And it, it was, it was set in the, um, in the late '80s and The Hole of the Moon was about, it was trying to recapture what it was like growing up in rural Ireland and, um, it, it dealt with a character called, uh, Connor, who emigrated to England, uh, in, in '80s, in the mid '80s because there was no work in Ireland.
