The Crying Woman, which is a portrait of Dora Maar, is actually a wonderful combination of colors, although it's somewhat jarring.

But generally speaking, Picasso's attempts at being a colorist were a total failure.

And as an example, because I think people will be curious, you can read a lot of this in a fascinating book called Picasso and Dora, written by James Lord, who is a friend, an American... soldier during the war who stayed in Paris afterwards and knew a lot of the artists and would end up writing one of the greatest biographies of all time and the greatest artist biography I've ever read, which is of Giacometti.

But he also wrote this book about, he developed a close friendship, reasonably close with Picasso and then with Dora Maar, who was one of Picasso's many significant women in his life for a period.
