Okay.

And I was put in touch with you by, um, previous guest, Terry DeCastro, uh, once of the wedding present.

Um, how do you and Terry know each other then?

Uh, Terry and I met in, in Minneapolis.

And it took, um, Oh my God, probably like two decades for us to finally actually play a gig together.

But, um, She toured with Downpilot once in Europe, and I've helped her.

I've played with her on her solo, a couple of solo shows, and then ended up working with The Wedding Present a little bit, co-produced the album Goin' Goin'.

Okay, okay, yeah.

Talking of bands from Leeds, I can't let a month from 1992 go by without playing something by The Wedding Present.

And this was their monthly release for September, Love Slave, which peaked at number 17 on the UK charts.

This week's song in memory of David Preston has snuck into the show early this week.

That was Generations by The Inspiral Carpets, a single taken from their Revenge of the Goldfish album it peaked at number 28 on the UK chart.

I know David went to see the band either late 2023 or 2024. but preferred them with Tom Hingley on vocals, and before the spiral carpets were the wedding presents with Love Slave.

A few weeks ago I played a solo single by Alan Rankin, formerly of The Associates, and I now have one by his partner in crime, Billy McKenzie, with Colours Will Come, which just snuck into the top 100, peaking at number 95.

We haven't heard from Blackstreet yet, but their album Another Level, that's new at number 26.

Wedding Present Saturnalia is new at number 36.

Red Snapper at number 60 with Prince Blimey.

And Dub War, who we've occasionally mentioned in Dispatches, their album Wrong Side of Beautiful is a new entry at number 96.

But actually, I was, I mean, some of it is fairly obscure, but actually there's a number of my favourite songs on there, including this next one.

uh so it's interesting in our pre-interview chat we mentioned the wedding present uh and you mentioned the velvet underground in this and me and my um good friend harry who sadly recently uh recently died uh so i'm gonna i'm gonna if you don't mind the music dedicate this song to to harry harry was a fellow member of the wedding present forum with me and the both of us used to say that this song that you've chosen is kind of where the idea of the wedding present comes from

And it amazed me

how rarely people reference The Velvet Underground when they write about The Wedding Present.

Because the live version in particular, what goes on, is sort of the root of certainly the first half of The Wedding Present's career.

I think so.

I think it's the start of so many different careers.
