The Wedding Banquet

Yeah.

All right, the last two movies I want to talk about today are another Ang Lee movie, The Wedding Banquet.

So this is his first feature film.

No, it's not.

He has standing.

All of our friends and family gave us money to put on a wedding for you.

And long story short, like they have to have the wedding banquet and the whole to do.

Otherwise, the family will be dishonored.

This will be a Ryan-Kyle matchup.

This is Ryan's nine-seed Paprika versus my five-seed Oppenheimer.

As is tradition, higher seed goes first.

alright well I'm going to vote for Paprika I like it quite a bit more I think Oppenheimer is one that well I still like even on this last watch for this podcast which has been a while ago now just kind of soured in my mind it's yeah I think my main issue with it is it's just a lot of conversations with epic music And those conversations aren't necessarily epic.

So he had never worked on a set like this.

He had done The Wedding Banquet in Taiwan.

He had never worked with an English crew or with English actors in this way.

He's away from his family.

Mm-hmm.

In the ni- in the '90s, Ang Lee, um, I think his run in the '90s was pretty special, where he had the, The Wedding Banquet in 1993, which I think you would, you would pretty much adore.

The Wedding Banquet is so funny.

Um-

Probably.
