The Valentinos

Womack.

Your uncle, your dad and your uncles are the legendary Valentinos.

And your mother, of course, along with your father, Cecil, of course, formed the legendary Womack and Womack.

I will ask you guys, I guess I could say...

Okay, so because I also come, I don't know what the musical version of A Preacher's Kid is.

My

father's group was around the time of the Valentinos.

So I was tricked into the family business.

You know?

The Womack Brothers especially.

Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

All the Womack Brothers tunes.

Soulsters.

Our parents were, like, the DJs of our house.

Uh, before that, Roscoe Shelton did a tune called My Best Friend, 1963, on Battle.

The C & C Boys before that, their version of It's All Over Now, um, originally done by The Valentinos, also done by The Rolling Stones.

Um, I think all of those came out in 1964.

That, uh, the C & C Boys came out, uh, on the Duke label out of Houston, and the C & C were Calvin Scott and Clarence Carter.

Please don't follow me.

Sticking with the Chess label, this one's The Valentinos, Sweeter Than the Day Before

You, my love, is bubbling over.

Every day we grow a little bit closer.
