The Used

And, The independent community is full of those artists.

When I was at Hopeless, I worked with lots who were shaken out of the major label system, from The Used to Taking Back Sunday, New Found Glory, all these artists, Sum 41.

I think they really had a great time on an independent label, and that was the right thing for that point in their career.

I've worked with other artists from indies that went up to majors and just really got stuck or caught up in things that are much bigger than their control.

And the more I tried to distance myself from it, more and more people just would like shoving it down my throat, being like My Chemical Romance, like they're so good, My Chemical, My Chem, My Chem.

I remember… Do you remember the video that came out ages ago of like The Used and My Chemical Romance performing under pressure on stage? I loved that.

But I was like…

To me, I was like, this felt like you had your side and I was always like, I'm on The Used.

I love The Used.

But I think you can make a

similar case about The Used in terms of like… Particularly around like In Love and Death when they became really popular.

That was a similar effect of what you're talking about with My Chemical Romance, isn't it?

I was surprised.

Actually, I only learned that they were together when I went to see The Used in Boston, and it just happened that night.

Actor Observer was open, and I remember booking one of their first shows.

Yeah, yeah.

Of course, this is night seven of Night of the Living cover bands over at Launchpad.

Some of the bands, Dakota Avenue as The Used, Alter Apex as Stone Temple Pilots.

Alter Apex is a really good band here in town.

No Manners as Metric, Dust City Opera as Beck, Jer Project as The Gap Band, Crash Bandits as The Wedding Singer, and Billy y Los Bebes as Twisted Sister.

Right-o.

We're going to finish off today's episode in the great state of Utah, who has not had a representation yet in this podcast until today, 2002.
