The UK Drum Show

Well, that's a, that's a nice, sedate, gradual build-up.

Um, obviously it's this time of year again when we're back to the UK Drum Show, and it wouldn't be, it wouldn't be normal if I didn't get you guys in and talk about what you've got planned for the, the massive event of the year.

It's becoming a bit of a tradition, isn't it?

It is a tradition.

Sounds great

...

this is when you tell me that you're not going to the UK Drum Show.

[laughs]

Welcome to Drummer Mamas, I'm Keira Chinia and I'm joined by my co-host Gemma Hill.

This week we're chatting all things UK Drum Show 2026, what to expect, Gemma's exciting new role and my session in the Evans Sound Advice Room.

We also get into the importance of community, representation and supporting each other, plus a little reflection on someone's big birthday.

Enjoy!

Like, I can't quite believe that it's happened.

And it all happened very, very quickly as well.

um so for anyone that doesn't know the backstory um the uk drum show is coming up very soon and this year the main stage lineup uh doesn't have any women on it for various reasons it was to do with planning they have tried to get people and people are busy and then it's just ended up that it's an all-male lineup and a lot of people were very angry about it And they have responded to that very quickly.

So Neil Golding is the show organizer of both shows.

It's always made sense to me to build a drum, but I'm a bit afraid because what if I spend a month building a drum and it sounds terrible? I don't know about bearing edges, how to cut them, and it's always held me back from a, from trying.

And years ago, I saw Tiki Drums at the London Drum Show, which was the show before the UK Drum Show, and he was there selling his wares.

This would've maybe been 15 years ago.

Long, long time ago.

[laughs] It's on my laptop right now.

Um, until the UK Drum Show.

This, so this is gonna be our little pre-drum show, uh, ramble, if you will.

Little tradition.

And you know, maybe if you're driving up the night before, you could maybe stick this on, but hopefully this will kind of, you know, a couple of weeks before the show, get you excited, get you informed.

You know, we're gonna talk about a couple of different things and maybe this might, you know, yeah, maybe, uh, kind of hope- help you plan your weekend a little bit.

[upbeat music] What or who are we most excited to see at the UK Drum Show 2026? Matt, take it away.

Who's on your list?

I've-

Before we meet up at the UK Drum Show-

Who do you want us to meet there?

... can we have a little, can we have a chat about Sandra Bullock?

[laughs] But that's nothing to do with it.

Anyway, yeah.

So yeah, to talk about Sandra, hopefully she'll turn up to the UK Drum Show, which, um-

Yeah

... it's exciting, yeah.

Well, I'm, I'm not sure if I'm gonna be at the UK Drum Show.

I might be, so hopefully-

Okay

Um-

Thank you.

Yeah, and I look forward to what's coming up in the future, and maybe catch you at the UK Drum Show.

Let's do it, yeah.

It's so good.

I wanted to ask you about the last time that I saw you, maybe that we all saw each other, was at the UK Drum Show.

So you must have been pregnant at that time, but it was too early to say.

I wondered how you felt, like how did your pregnancy go from the point of working and feeling all the different things?
