Like, the plotline of Roy going on a lot of speed dates felt very aggressive for the character, and if anything more convinced me, maybe the show's trying to convince me, the two of them maybe shouldn't be together, because as much fun as their flirting was, all that displayed a lot of immaturity on both of their parts that kind of maybe shouldn't be kind of put together in this moment.

If that's the message they wanted us to get out of this, great.

It made for kind of immature, rote, I think I saw this on an episode of Sports Night a while ago, episode of television with respect to a lot of that.

They teased the idea that Roy could already be starting to be interested in other people because he's actually now going through the steps of trying to be interested in other people and date other people, but...

The mechanics of it felt weird.

And that kind of what we see a lot of in this season or in Ted last and more recent years, that kind of dialed up super realism that doesn't really feel kind of authentic or grounded, but shows not really going for that anymore.
