The Tennessee Three

That's what we're calling our shots on today.

And for this one? I want to say, born in Kingsland, Arkansas, just across the border, but I'm still claiming him as ours because grew up in Arkansas, but then went out, served in the military, came back to Tennessee, came back to Memphis, and then formed the Tennessee Three.

So you know what? We're claiming him.

Johnny Cash.

Walk the Line from Johnny Cash.

The record I just played was recorded at the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee in 1956 with a group called the Tennessee Two.

And it landed at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs record chart.

Johnny Cash has recorded that song a lot over the years, and the version recorded at San Quentin is probably the most famous.

Yeah.

For like all those Sun Records stuff, like I have a retrospective of Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two, and it's probably, I don't know, a dozen 45s put together, something like that, where it's, you know, it had two songs or three songs or whatever, and they just keep smashing all those.

I don't even know when he put out a legitimate album, you know what I mean?

It's kind of weird.

Hmm.

The Tennessee Three band.

Oh.

The Johnny Cash Tennessee Three.

Mm-hmm.

The NSC3, uh, they have scored or assisted on 42 of the team's 59 goals this season.

I know.

Girl! One Piece at a Time is a country novelty song written by Wayne Kemp and recorded by Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three.

Uh-huh.

In 1976, it was the last song performed by Cash to reach number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles.
