The Tall Man

So Phantasm II, it happens seven years after the events of the first film.

So Mike is released from a psychiatric hospital after convincing his doctors that the Tall Man was all in his head.

He immediately digs up a grave and proves that it wasn't.

Suddenly, Mike is reunited with Reggie, and the two team up and hit the road, chasing the Tall Man across the trail through gutted small towns and empty graveyards.

In the end, the team, armed with chainsaws, shotguns, hydrochloric acid, they line up to do battle against the Tall Man, alien dwarves, and killer spheres.

So, uh, uh, normally we, uh, talk about lore.

While all this is happening, I just need to point out the Tall Man is, like, watching everything.

He's watching the proceedings from this sick-looking room somewhere with candles, and he's got a sentinel that turns into a crystal ball.

It's like the Palantir.

[laughs] But yeah, the Tall Man kind of appears in Jody's... or Jo- in, in Mike's... [laughs] We're, we're still mixing them up.

The Tall Man appears in Mike's dream as kind of a nurse, and is like, "Go towards the light, Mike.

time lapse.

But then he gets snatched by the...

Or almost snatched.

By the tall man,

Lovecraft, as well as from different video games like Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

But he was especially inspired by an old movie called Phantasm? There's a villain in this movie called The Tall Man.

So he pulls inspiration from different areas, and again, it was just all for fun.

Now, I don't know if Eric won the contest or not, but he did submit the images, right? So they're out there on the internet.

It's like, well, it can't just be one person's dream because it focuses on a lot of people's stories.

But if the tall man was an infecting presence that infected like a group of people, it works.

Think about it.

And I think there's a lot of, hey, this would be a great

Should have called him the ball man.

'Cause the intro is by Angus Scrimm, who plays the villain, the Tall Man, and he's, like, talking about when Don cast him and what the, the story is and, like, how it affected him, and he, he sums up the whole first movie.

So Gressil, when you were watching that intro, what, what were you thinking?

I think that intro was done for the VHS, just based on, like, what-

I, I, I, I do think that I did find myself thinking about that, especially towards the end of the movie, like, wait, this is the movie that had him so excited that he has to do it? [laughs] But-

He loved playing the Tall Man.

If, yeah.

So the tall man has a lot of things at his disposal.

Yeah.

You know, if he knows where the croc is, he takes it.

That rotate thing.

I think the little silver ball is just so overpowered to the extent where if he has that, I have a hard time imagining most things beating him.

I'm picturing the tall man kind of walking back and forth on the lakeside, and then the croc just wanting to eat him so bad that he just runs out, charges, and then the silver ball just goes right through his head.

Yeah, because he's stabbed in the movie.
