That, unfortunately, in our family, was a, a twofer, because the strong-willed child is James Dobson, who is from, he started Focus on the Family, political and Christian organization, et cetera, wrote all those books, Dare to Discipline, and the one that my parents were dev- or my mother was devoted to was The Strong-Willed Child, because that was me.

And Dobson's basic tenet was, yes, that children are like animals, and they have to be, and he would use the example of beating his own dog to make it behave and that children need to be treated likewise, to break their spirit, that they are really just brats, and they are wanting to defy you, and so you have to break their spirit to make them obedient, and it's all about o- submission and obedience for children.
