The Strangers

So again, your tension is ramped up even further.

And I think one of the most notable things I found when I watched it is when we have these home invasion movies, like The Strangers, for instance.

The Strangers has a very cold quote at the end of the movie.

There is one in this as well, and I remember watching it again the other night, and it hit me more than it did the first time.

And I wrote it down, it was just when George says, why are you doing this? And Peter says, why not?

I love a home invasion movie.

Even though I told you earlier that as a child, I was terrified of being robbed, of us being robbed, but The Strangers is hands down my favorite movie.

These are self-inflicted wounds.

I think I watched it last when we were at Ghoulicon one of those nights.

Mm-hmm.

You went to bed and I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up and watched The Strangers, and then somehow The Strangers kept coming up in conversations for the next several weeks, which was super weird.

But I haven't watched it since then.

This is directed by the great Rennie Harlan.

For you horror fans, he just did that The Strangers trilogy.

I think one came out this year and the other two were last year and The first one was eh.

Second one I liked.

Yeah.

To bring it into the horror world, one of the best no-score movies is The Strangers, the original one.

The original Strangers is terrifying for the fact that there is no score, there is no background noise.

So

I forgot how many movers there are of it, but that may be something I have to do a versus with.

Would you do, like, Devil's Rejects or that series versus, like, The Strangers or something? Or would you do it against something else?

I wouldn't do it versus this new

one.

If we did The Devil's Rejects, then I'd want to put it with, like, Pearl Maxine and all those.

That's a good mix-up.

The only reason I say, like, with The Strangers, because the first one's great.

And the second one was interesting, but that trilogy was...

Hush.

You know, the strangers and like on the body horror side, like it's as visceral as the human centipede or hostile.

It's great.

So...

Okay, so, yeah, I mean, recommend this to your most fucked up horror movie companion, you know.

If you like, again, I mentioned several movies that are very similar in effect, you know.

The Strangers, Funny Games, you know.

What's some other stuff? Intense body horror stuff, I guess, or the other French stuff, Titane, and some of that stuff is pretty similar.

Okay, best horror sci-fi film.

We have Cloverfield, Hellboy 2, The Golden Army, Let the Right One In, The Strangers, and WALL-E.

And for the next best picture team, Cloverfield, Let the Right One In, Speed Racer, The Strangers, and WALL-E.

The runner-up for both is Let the Right One In, and WALL-E is the winner for both.

Which is expected.
