C- Cowdenbeath is always a s- stand-up comedian's favorite.
Kevin DayHOST
52:38
So we always used to go and see Cowdenbeath just because who doesn't wanna see the Blue Brazils, basically.
Kevin DayHOST
52:45
Um, just finally, you talk about Spartans, for example.
Kevin DayHOST
52:49

of the English Football League, the EFL, and the independent football regulator.
Dave HendrickHOST

And they own majority shareholding already in the Scottish League 2 team, Spartans FC.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:41
OK, so looks like that takeover is going to happen.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:46

Members of the American consortium attempting to buy Shrewsbury have received clearance from the Scottish FA to hold interests in both Spartans FC and Shrewsbury.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:14
Okay.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:16
So Brad Friedel, Scott Davidson, Will Dodson, and Craig Graham, they've already passed the due diligence and financial tests set by the English FA, or the English Football League, EFL, and the Independent Football Regulator, and they own majority shareholding already in a s- in the Scottish League Two team, uh, Spartans FC.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:41
Okay, so looks like that owner, that takeover's gonna happen.
Dave HendrickHOST
3:46
South Korea captain Lee Jae-wook has apologized for gloating about avoiding mandat- mandatory military service after winning gold at the Asian Games.
Aaron JayHOST
32:32
But the consortium is, it, it's quite interesting actually looking into the, um, Shrewsbury takeover.
Aaron JayHOST
32:37
Just for anyone that, that hasn't read up on it or, or wasn't aware of it, it's a consortium that has previous experience with Spartans in Scotland.
Aaron JayHOST
32:49
Uh, they were in the Lowland League, they're now in the SPFL.
Aaron JayHOST
32:52
They nearly got into League One last season.
Craig TelferHOST
71:24
But as we touched on there, Sean, no games over the weekend because of the international break.
Craig TelferHOST
71:29
So we will just go into League Two and finish up the podcast by analysing or doing our best to analyse Dumbarton's 3-0 win over the Spartans at the Rock.
Craig TelferHOST
71:39
Bang, bang, Darren Lang opened the scoring after just three minutes.
Craig TelferHOST
71:43
Cammy Russell scored an own goal just after their mark and Josiah Soas, a brilliant goal, completed the route in second half injury time.
Craig TelferHOST
71:51
A much needed win for Frank McEwen as Dumbarton side are in eighth place with nine points.
Craig TelferHOST
71:57
The Spartans, meanwhile, are in third with 12 points, but a bad weekend was compounded with news that the long-serving manager, Doogie Simul...
Craig TelferHOST
72:05
Doogie Simul? Doogie Samuel? Doogie Simul? Dougie Samuel was sacked later that evening there was a short statement on the website I think this was posted about half ten on Saturday night following an independent investigation into allegations of misconduct the Spartans FC head coach Douglas Samuel has left the club out of respect for the privacy of the individuals involved and in accordance with our confidentiality policies we will make no further comment on the specific details of the investigation or its findings Paul Thompson will continue as our interim head coach for the CBO future We really appreciate the commitment.
Craig TelferHOST
72:38
Christ, Craig, try to learn how to read.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
34:25
Self-made millionaire from real estate, but he already owns a football club.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
34:30
He owns the Spartans in Scotland and already got them promoted from the Lowland League into the SPFL League Two.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
34:38
And he's quite unique, you know, because he's got his own UEFA A License.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
34:42
Uh, I don't think there's many prospective owners that have one of those.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
35:56
That's all to come out in the wash.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
35:57
But, you know, we are hearing lots of people, um, praising Roland for, for apparently finding the right people because the key thing for, for Shrewsbury fans, they want success on the field, but they also want to see the infrastructure built off it.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
36:10
And we understand that Scott Davidson's built, uh, played a big part in building one of the biggest football foundations in the UK with the Spartans.
Nick SouthallCORRESPONDENT
36:19
Uh, and I think, uh, a lot of fans are, are, are very pleased to see that and hope that the same can be done at Shrewsbury.
Stefan LairdGUEST
6:03
So, I mean, I watch all the teams, not just the ones that we're playing Saturday.
Stefan LairdGUEST
6:08
So, for me I think just based on the last couple of years I think that you know Clyde have retained pretty much the same squad and then added a couple Spartans have retained pretty much the same squad lost a couple but added a couple and you know I think in terms of consistency probably over the last three years they've been the best two teams that haven't went up so I would have them down as favourites I think when you know, you've got people like Mark McNulty in your team, you know, for Spartans, that is, you know, Mark doesn't miss a couple of the chances that we miss on Saturday.
Stefan LairdGUEST
6:44
And that changes things.
Stefan LairdGUEST
6:47
And I find Adam's done a great job at Clyde, who were all over the place, really.

26 MINS LATER

Stefan LairdGUEST
32:34
And that's why I was so frustrated.
Stefan LairdGUEST
32:35
If we were, if Anand were miles better than us and beat us, then he would get absolutely no complaint.
Stefan LairdGUEST
32:42
for me so I'm not too bothered about the away results I think that we've played well if we you know we've went to Edinburgh Science Spartans two of the hardest places you can go and we've got four points I don't think many teams will go to Spartans and score three I don't think anybody else will go to Edinburgh Science and score five
speaker_3UNKNOWN
33:01
don't get me wrong both of them are capable of coming to our grounds and scoring five and three as well
AdamGUEST
21:10
I would probably give a...
AdamGUEST
21:12
From a local perspective, I'd probably give Spartans a shout out to the playoffs again because they've actually got a reasonable sized squad and they've got a decent enough spine experience as well.
AdamGUEST
21:25
It's settling off lower league football.
AdamGUEST
21:27
Again, Mark McNulty up front is a good one.
Finn CrockerHOST
21:57
We can't judge too much.
Finn CrockerHOST
21:58
I
AdamGUEST
21:58
think a lot of the problems for some of these, I think Spartans are the same as Celtic, where it's like, they have got quality there for that level, but I think defensively they're just... do you know like the big difference I think sometimes in these leagues it's the ones that can show up a bit better at the back or ones that can hammer them in because Elgin are banging them in I don't know how long that'll last I just think he's called it at the start I think Clyde might be a fair shout to be honest like yeah just the way it's looking
Finn CrockerHOST
22:27
Yeah, so we've done a roundup of the top four divisions.
