Basically, it started when everybody started calling them, when Raekwon and them, when they all had Italian aliases.

So I want to bring up Ms. Lauren Hill, who's the mother of five of your children.

I think when we first met, I didn't say this early on in the show, but anyone who's watching that doesn't know, I'm the creator of The Source magazine, The Source Awards, and Lauren Hill was a big part of The Source, and we were very close with her from the inception of her career.

That was probably the very first time I had a chance to briefly meet you.

But tell us a little about how you guys met and what your relationship has given you, you know, such amazing children.

This prompted his other daughter, 17-year-old Rashida Jones, to write an open letter to The Source magazine, calling Tupac ignorant and disrespectful of his own people.

She wasn't wrong.

Word got around.

In high school, I was just, you know, listening to the radio a lot in Boston, because we had some really good hip hop stations.

Mostly it was college radio, WERS, then WHRB, which is where The Source started off at.

You know, John Schecter and David Mays and DJ Def Jeff, who lived, I believe he lived in my neighborhood, because we used to get our hair cut at the same barbershop back in the days.

You know, so I would see him in there.

Welcome back to another episode of the 4 1⁄2 Mic Dissection.

That's right, back in the day, Source Magazine used to hand out ratings, and 4 1⁄2 Mic was a very, very proud rating to have when the Source Magazine was considered the hip-hop bible.

We, you know, would dish these things out.

And, you know, over the past few years, there's been discussion about, you know, are some of these ratings correct? Maybe, you know, some of these albums are actually classics.
