The Slow Hustle

Let's just say a combination of my grandma's prayers, stew of loans, some luck, a few apologies, and a lot of reading.

If you don't know me from down to hell, then maybe you read something I wrote in the Atlantic, New York Times, Salon, my books, Black Boy Smile, The B-Side, The Cook-Up, or maybe you caught me on HBO's Beyond This City and The Slow Hustle.

The point is, after all of that work, I still have it scratched the surface.

My love for writing, journalism, and storytelling in general was birthed out of the lack of representation I witnessed when I became a reader.
