Let's do it.

And I will say, just on the topic of interviews, in my absence for the last month, and shout out to everybody who asked about me, doing better, but we were able to publish our Dead by Daylight interview with Behavior, our Sinking City 2 interview with Frogwares, which had a live air raid siren during the interview.
Luke LohrHOST
40:18
That's terrifying.
Luke LohrHOST
40:19
Those poor people.
Nathan LawrenceHOST

I think one of the things that made it look worse was that I'd recently played through and loved Floors.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
89:48
It was still quite full, but I loved The Sinking City 2.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
89:52
I believe Joby would have talked about this on the podcast, but that one I played through to completion and what it had in common with Townfall, apart from a really good atmosphere, is that it had a dog-shit melee system.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
90:07
But the difference was, because it was also more geared towards that classic survival horror with guns and whatnot, that it wasn't punishing you for using, in fact, if anything, on a normal difficulty, it was giving you more ammo than you needed.
Nathan LawrenceHOST

um to get through fights so i would find that i was kind of more encouraged to experiment with the different weapons plus you could get uh unlocks for the weapons um and they you know they all mostly felt kind of different which is great uh the melee system being broken just meant that i was like i'm not going to use melee there were very few exceptions to that rule and it's something i hope that Frogwares, I believe, I'm remembering that correctly, is the developer, addresses in a future update because it seems like, I don't know, I won't say an easy win, who knows how much development is required to overhaul that system, but if they made it just more viable, if it felt better, I think that would be one of those gifts that when you come to a game after a lot of people have raved about it or maybe you're waiting for it to be on special there it's like you haven't missed out by missing out on the the zeitgeist of playing it it's not like the sinking city was such a big game that everyone was fanging for the sequel in fact i went back to the original game and then i played a bit i liked it but it was kind of a bit clunky and um it really you had to kind of explore at a slower pace than i would have liked and didn't really have as much combat as i would have preferred so when they announced that the sinking city 2 was basically they're like we're gonna try to make a survival horror game that's more like resi And they've borrowed systems wholesale from that.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
91:53
I'm like, that's not a bad thing.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
91:55
Like, give me more of that.
Nathan LawrenceHOST
93:22
I think it also had the, from memory, I shouldn't be forgetting this, I didn't play it that long ago, but it has that classic resi system that it doesn't really teach you, but if you shoot the enemies in the leg, they kind of fall to their... knees in and can go in and get a couple of cheeky melee hits as dog shit as melee is and then back off and repeat so you basically were you know expending two pistol shots to kill a basic enemy rather than having to shoot you know the weak points of the head five or six seven times but it was mainly the it had good puzzles And the whole, yeah, the whole setting, that whole world was just super interesting.
AlexHOST
56:44
Oh, And that's going to be a sequel to a game that I played a while back called Sinking City.
AlexHOST
56:49
This is going to be Sinking City 2.
AlexHOST
56:51
So I'll be adding it to our Steam library.
AlexHOST
56:53
It is very positive right now on Steam out of 1600 reviews.
JohnHOST
48:10
Well, that's depressing.
JohnHOST
48:12
Um, fingers crossed for Sinking City 2.
JohnHOST

Bruno DiasGUEST

His last book that came out shortly before he died is this very short essay called The Weird and the Eerie.
Bruno DiasGUEST
38:47
that I have been meaning to read for a while, but it kind of was sort of apropos of me playing through the Sinking City 2 and writing a review on it, right? Oh, right, right.
Bruno DiasGUEST
39:00
It is one of those things that I think is really applicable to video games too, specifically to video game writing.
Bruno DiasGUEST
39:06
Or at least I wish it was applicable in the sense that I wish more people would think about those things writing out for video games.
Bruno DiasGUEST
41:50
This kind of like illuminates stuff that I was doing in the past.
Brendan McLeodHOST
41:53
Right.
Nic TringaliHOST
41:55

Bruno DiasGUEST
