The Shack

Some folks did get burned at the stake in the Middle Ages for that.

In recent times, there was the controversy about the 2007 book turned 2017 film, The Shack, in which God is depicted as a black woman.

And at a 1993 ecumenical gathering, prayers to Sophia, the wisdom character in Proverbs and also a figure in the Gnostic Gospels, led to an uproar in two liberal denominations.

But in the case of Merrill and Aslan, I think the white evangelical obsession with gender, particularly in the last 50 years, is more instructive.

I think it visually portrays everything you're talking about here very well.

And it's at the end of the movie, The Shack.

And it's in the field when he's overlooking the field.

And there's all of these lights.

And it led to a moment of transacting needed forgiveness that allowed freedom for both.

That's powerful right there.

It was a picture outside of earth time because it's a melding of the spiritual realm and the earth realm together, which throughout the whole issue of the shack, that's the kingdom.

The manifesting of the spiritual realm here in the earthly realm.
