The Servant King

I was the man who needed a saviour.

And some weeks later, driving to work, in fact, I'm privileged to be in Graham Kendrick's forthcoming autobiography featured, but he puts in, because he's heard me say it, that I was listening to his song, The Servant King, in the car.

And it said, hands that flung stars into space to cruel nails surrendered.

And I had a full-on vision of the cross and Jesus coming and dying for me.

We've just been singing it.

Amazing song of truth and of the gospel narrative.

He didn't come to serve, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many.

Here is the extreme example of servant leadership.

And Father, for anyone in this room this morning who has never accepted that love for the first time, Lord, I pray that they would come and realize that the cup that Jesus took, he took it for us.

Because he loved us and he gave himself for us.

Father, as we come to sing this next song, The Servant King, may our hearts be aligned with yours.

Lord, may we worship you with hearts full of gratitude.
