The Scream

From that first gig, the Banshees evolved in ways most punk groups didn’t, stepping away from pure aggression towards a more melodic yet still menacing aesthetic.

The early recordings on their debut album, The Scream, had dissonant chords and a haunting drum line that made you feel like you were being followed through a dark alley.

Production-wise, the first session was captured at the One Hundred Club itself, a low-budget studio that used an old four-track machine and an overdriven tape.

The result? A lo-fi texture that still sounded intentional.
