The Sad Cafe

And then so I've been listening to that.

And then another great song on their last studio before they broke up and then reunited the long run song called The Sad Cafe.

Yep.

And it was about back in the 60s.

These rock and roll bands would meet, I think, at a place called Dan Tannis in L.A. And they would talk about, you know, the future and changing the world and everything.

and don had this little guitar break uh he's listed the eagles were generous uh when us in the studio if if one of their members created a musical uh piece that laid in the middle of a song they got writing credit J.D. Souther, the late, great J.D. Souther, who was a friend of the Eagles, Glenn Frey and Don Henley all got writing credits for this song, too.

It's called The Sad Cafe.

And I've listened to that over and over.

um but well the one i can't let you uh not talk about the sad cafe and the solo on that which i've been trying to pick up on i mean it's it's it's odd because there's bent strings so and and i believe you you mentioned that in in your book that you multi-tracked So can I get the studio story on this? First of all, you also mentioned in there that essentially the way Eagles soloing would go is that, well, Glenn would get a shot because he's Glenn.

And then you'd get a shot.

Joe would get a shot.

And may the best man win.

sort of thing is is that the way that it worked how did you wind up in the sad cafe uh did did glenn try one first that that got rejected or did you get that and how did you cut that can you give me the vision give me the sad cafe story please

okay well well the only time we really took different shots at a solo was for i can't tell you why uh-huh Typically, I was the first one to go to for a melodic solo.
