The Runner

I'm not

going to buy The Runner on 4K.

No! It's...

Yeah, but do you know what? But do you know who might? Your kids.

No.

Because they'll have grown up with The Runner.

Well, not your kids, because, you know, you have schooled your kids in the right ways of cinema.

Exactly, they will not watch it,

So for Checked Out this week, I watched Onslaught.

This is the new Adam Wingard movie.

uh look this is about uh a woman who is like former military kind of like marine i think and she lives in this little town in new mexico and there is a military experiment that happens somewhere near there with these these three soldiers who are basically created as kind of like I don't want to say mindless weapons, but kind of like, kind of like that.

Like they're, they have thoughts and everything, but they're just like, they're killers.

Oh, that sucks.

Here's the thing.

I enjoyed everything about this movie.

The disappointment is there isn't more of it.

And also the Alan Richardson film that came out at the same time.

Oh, what was that one? The runner.

Oh, was that the...

There was another movie called The Runner with him? They came out within a week of each other.

Oh, boy.

Like, I didn't watch either of these movies.

Hold on, am I looking at the same thing as the one with Owen Wilson? It's

one called The Runner and it's one called Runner, which confused me

too.

I didn't watch

The Runner.

I watched Runner.

Just Runner on Amazon with Gal

Gadot.

Runner.

Not The Runner.

That's another movie that we're going to talk about.

Just Runner with our boy.

It's 3.25.

3.25? Wow.

3.25 too? I only gave the runner...

Ooh.

It's that moment of when do you tell someone? And there was actually another recent very bad movie that, that hit on this well.

There was a lousy movie that we did not discuss on this podcast somehow called The Runner with Gal Gadot.

It's not a good movie, but it has two interesting things.

One, it has Anthony Dod Mantle doing the cinematography, and he's great.

And everybody else around her in all of London doesn't know, and it does play well with that.

That's not the movie I'm recommending.

Don't watch The Runner with Gal Gadot.

What you should watch is a really serious movie that for a minute I felt like, ah, nobody remembers this movie [laughs] Then I looked it up, and it was nominated for Best Picture, which I agree with 'cause it's good, but like I had forgotten that it did that well in the, at the Oscars.
