The Rivals of Amziah King

Green light.

The Rivals of Amziah King is the new film.

You play Amziah King.

Yeah.

And we get to meet your rivals.

Yeah, let's.

So he's got, he's got The Rivals of Amaziah King, if I'm saying that right.

Which I've heard is supposed to be amazing.

It looks amazing from the trailer.

I hope so too.

But it, it really, you really can tell though, can't you? This, we've said it before, it's like put a pin in it, it's picking and choosing.

Amaziah King is like their, an, i- it feels like that's the next Dallas Buyers Club.

Yeah.

[laughs]

[laughs] I, I watched with my wife, um, the film The Rivals of Amzia King.

Mm-hmm.

Which is kind of a mouthful of a title Um, but it is a film that debuted at South by Southwest last year, but just had a, a limited theatrical release a couple months ago, and is on premium VOD now.

You got it right.

Okay.

Um, so The Rivals of Amzia King is the second film.

It, it took this director a while to make it, and in some ways it's completely unrecognizable, um, because it's not touching any of the stuff that his first movie did.

... that we pr- br- uh, provided banjos for.

And recently, The Rivals of Amzia King, which is a Matthew-

Yeah

...

It is called, this is kind of a long title, but it's worth knowing because you won't be disappointed if you are a fan and if you like to be taken to different places that you maybe never explored before.

So the name of it is The Rivals of Amziah King.

and Amziah is spelled A-M-Z-I-A-H.

The Rivals of Amziah King is a 2025 American neo-Western black comedy film, written and directed by Andrew Patterson, according to Wikipedia, and produced by Black Bear Pictures and Hay Day Films.

It stars Matthew McConaughey, Kurt Russell, hello, Angelina Lookingglass, amazing, Scott Shepard, Rob Morgan, and Tony Revolori.

They continue to say here it had its world premiere at the South by Southwest Festival on March 10, 2025, and was theatrically released in the United States on August 14, 2026.

So anyway, I just got a few pieces from the audience.

So first of all, uh, Jason Harris, who's about to talk to me, he actually wrote in, uh, for The Rivals of Amzia King.

On the episode, I mentioned about trying to find puzzle pieces for the, uh, unique editing style of the movie, and he mentioned Requiem for a Dream, the, uh, uh, Darren Aronofsky film, and also just the general style of Danny Boyle as examples of editing that was kind of, uh, in that vein.

So, uh, both could work as puzzle pieces.

Good job, Jason.

And then we'll go to Josie DeMarco, who wrote in for a couple of movies.

Uh, back to Rivals of Amzia King, she mentioned Powwow Highway, Clear Cut, Last of the Dogmen, and Rosewood.

I haven't seen any of those, but I should watch Rosewood.
